Research proves that analyzing linguistics is a more accurate means to detect lies/deception than analyzing body language, which is subjective and unreliable but widely relied on. Unlike a polygraph examination, this method is not intrusive, it’s discreet, and does not require the person’s consent or participation. In reality, people, including criminal justice professionals, only correctly identify lies at a rate of about 47% accuracy, worse than a flip of a coin. Statements contain far more useful information than the person intended to communicate and far more information than the reader/listener realizes.
